Like Carl Sagan said, "It will not be we who [reach the stars]. it will be a species very like us, but with more of our strengths and fewer of our weaknesses." I think the fear of us being rendered obsolete by superhuman AI is as irrational as a parent fearing that it's child will inherit the future. It's like Homo Erectus fearing its own evolution into man.
