Another point about the self-driving taxi fleets being unleashed in our cities. They aren't remotely economically viable. They require costly and ongoing GPS surveys of their geofenced working areas. Their high-tech sensors drive up the capital outlay to $200k - $300k per vehicle. And they require service centres manned 24/7 so humans can steer them out of their self-inflicted problems. These projects are hemorrhaging $$$. They are potentially a long-term threat to the fabric of our cities, but at least it will be many years, if ever, before they are ready for universal adoption. So we do have time to prepare.
