I'm shocked that everyone involved isn't fully aware that loss of jobs on that scale would mean none of us buy anything that isn't absolutely necessary. We would see that the world is crumbling down around our ears and be taking steps to prepare for the worst. People will cut their phones down to one per family, they'll get rid of internet, back to antennas and local stations, Amazon stops cold, car sales, home sales, furniture sales, literally anything that isn't an absolute necessity. At this stage, the rich aren't nearly as rich and most companies start to fail. You only have to reference the public's reaction during COVID to understand how people will react. Why companies wouldn't phase into AI, slowly, maturely, intelligently and understand that from a fiscal perspective, even if not humanitarian, no middle class means no class...and it means civil war. This should never have been allowed and the government should have immediately taken steps to advance AI, but take it under a national Security umbrella and made it unavailable for general use. In fact, as I see it, the U.S. will still have to do this in order to arrest the most dire of outcomes.
