Regarding the second point, I'm afraid that all of it is incorrect. 1) Your story about the hills is exactly what 'inspiration' is. Putting in something that had an impact in your life into your work. There is no difference whether the inspiration comes from other artists or your own experiences. The mechanism of inspiration works the same. 2) Not all artists create works with any particular inspiration. I'm sorry, but you clearly are unaware of such a thing as 'business'. Some people 'create' art, others just 'produce it'. Look at any large-scale manga. There are multiple people that work on the art to bring it to life. While the main, focal point of the drawings is done by the main artist (often, but not always, the author), the backgrounds may be done by a group of supportive artists. These supportive artists are meant to produce art that matches the existing part of the drawing. They have little right to creativity. They bring a rough image from the storyboard into life with an art style that was forced upon them. Also, there are works that cannot really be based on ones life. A person that had the most wonderful life in a safe, bright, newly-built part of a thriving city has no experience to draw upon for a run-down, dangerous rular village. They just 'imagine it' and recreate it based on what expectations they have. A lot of works related to heavy fantasy or heavy sci-fi are much like that. Sorry, but you putting in orange hills is pretty irrelevant for the image at large. Sure, it is a sign of your works. But sorry, orange hills do not bring anything unique to your works. The overall design you do is far more unique, but that's a combination of your intentions, skills and material that you're working with. 3) If you tell an AI to replicate something, it will replicate that something. Exactly how an artist will. If you ask AI to make a Star Wars scene, it will make a Star Wars scene. Exactly how an artist would. Firefly was inspired in Star Wars. It was MEANT to be different. That's why it was. The AI examples you gave were MEANT to be the same. That's why they were. You said that you are unable to create an image so faithful to the original, but that doesn't mean that others also cannot. There are people that literally live off of it. It takes a whole lot of specialized skill and knowledge, far more than you may think. But it can also be 'cheated'...by tracing or basing the work on tracing. When I was a kid, I tried to replicate multiple drawings. Including following a specific guide on how to draw something exactly. Do you know what? My first image was absolutely ridiculous. Everything was wrong. The character didn't look anything like the original. But I went and did several other images and I returned. It took only a few images...and at my second try the drawing I made was very clearly the character from the image. Proportions, details, these things were roughly similar, despite me merely looking at it (not tracing it with the original underneath). What could I do if I continued for some years? I can tell you. I would be able to draw those characters in original poses, while still making them look like they were made by original artist.
