"Become a plumber" - Why? The world does not need millions of plumbers (substitute plumber for your choice of maintenance worker). The more plumbers there are, the lower the rates plumbers will be able to charge (over supply).
This is the thing people don't always get. AI job displacement will not create 1:1 new jobs. For every one new kind of job created, tens of thousands will be displaced.
