If it fails, things go bad and recovers eventually. If it succeeds, end of the world as we know it and not in a good way. The AI bubble that has developed is literally 2007 but purely digital and with a few extra steps. Just needs a push and it'll collapse entirely like OpenAI filing for bankruptcy or something. Given the way things are going, not exactly conspiracy theory territory. It's not sustainable and, even if it doesn't happen immediately, these companies are cannibalising each other. There's only so many AI companies you can create before the market is oversaturated and then they start having to fight each other for market share
