Does anyone really believe the US is the only country capable of making actual AI? Unless we are willing to go to war for what could be (and we aren't), it's gonna happen. It's silly to think the world is going to just stop trying because it's a bad idea. When had that ever happened? The only way to stop the advancement of AI is to make something that does it better or cheaper and I personally have no idea what that would look like.
