Honestly both sides keep getting this whole thing wrong. There is way more nuance to this conversation than ppl are willing to give it. There are plenty of real artists using this tech for their work: some use it as a reference point, some train their own models on their own work, and refine the final results. This is not a black and white issue and I think in 5 years, ppl will see both extremes (the crowd who is pro ai and don’t have empty for artists and for the artists who lack empathy for those who want to use the tools. There’s hardly any intellectual conversation ever happening on this side without resorting to tribalism. Also using the R word is so unnecessary.
