Humans in intellectual jobs often have been overloaded doing the jobs of several people by constantly spinning plates. An AI assistant or a bespoke AI app comes along there’s a chance the job might get done properly or even faster with more strategic oversight. Doesn’t necessarily mean the human gets replaced at least initially. The other aspect is continuous progress - an AI assistant may help automate decision making processes or undertake activities faster, but there is no end goal, just wealth accumulation, and for who? Humans. So humans are always going to be needed to steer the ship towards human centred outcomes. The skill set needed is asking AI the right nested questions to refine tasks to perfection and automate what you can. The environment changes then you adapt the questions/tasks and provide oversight.
