These claims about the huge economic growth that AI will usher in are problematic in 2 big ways at least. First, how will that happen if people don't have wages unless we do have UBI? Will people accustomed to earning more settle for that? I think a universal basic income is needed regardless of AI, but it just seems like it's a very fraught time to try to do that. Second, maybe huge economic growth isn't the blissful thing that AI creators seem to think it is. It'd be great if we could look at sustainability as something to aspire to. Also, some of us who are disabled aren't hiding out for fear of losing assistance. I can't volunteer in my community. Yang's perspective is so entitled and ableist.
