In theory, such a future is not that scary. AI is here to stay and it will (and should) replace many low-income jobs. But our society is not yet ready for it due to the current outdated education system.
Today's education system was made the way it is to produce obedient factory workers. Now, these obedient factory workers will be replaced by AI. Now you need IT experts and tech savvies to operate these AI, innovate them and work with them. As such, education should change to reflect this. This way all the people will be able to still find jobs AI is not able to replace or work with AI themselves.
Now it is up to the governments to make this change to education world-wide once AI becomes more prevalent. In fact, the people born today need to be educated differently right now, so that in 18-20 years they can work with AI and not compete with it.
But yeah, you can always go the lazy route and give out money to people to spend in your country, and fund it by taxing the living heck out of companies that use AI.
