Senator, thank you for highlighting this very important subject; however, in addition to robotics and automation decimating previous jobs in America, the employment crisis shall also clash with America’s housing shortage and homeless crisis.
Essentially, America shall be rudderless and captainless throughout Trump’s four-year presidency, and much is going to go astray and go terribly wrong during that time. As you are keenly aware, four years of the Trump regime shall cause such a calamity in America that the downward spiral affecting all industries will take decades from which to recover.
In essence, America will have walking zombies of people with no future, direction, work, and with nowhere to live; in Trump’s America, crime shall skyrocket out of necessity just so people can eat! Only bleakness, despair and hopelessness can emerge out of this regime… but there are ways and means to offset his dystopia once Democrats regain both Houses and the presidency in 2028 – but it will take a Democratic administration with vision, hope and promise as America rises out of and from Trump’s ashes like a Phoenix… and it begins with rebuilding the Departments of Education and the Department of Labor.
In the 1970s, I worked for the Department of Labor in the State of Washington under the C.E.T.A. [Comprehensive Employment and Training Act] program. For America to return to its global prominence and prosperity, a C.E.T.A. type concept will have to be implemented, along with the Department of Education, having been rebuilt, and the Department of Commerce. Via the Department of Commerce, the Department of Education will know what current and future industries to train students; it’s the difference between training students on how to make buggy whips, as compared to training them to build automobiles.
Education should go where business, industry, science, technology, and prosperity goes. Not everyone is or should be college or university bound, therefore, investments must be made in trade schools, and that determination must be made during the last year of high school, to finalize the aptitude of a student’s success in a 2-year college, 4-year college, or trade school. The task of determination must be systematic and automatic via the Education Department; however, to manage the program, education must return to the federal government to centralize consistency and student success, rather than the current state control model. Decentralizing education via Republican policies has not worked and has only made our students dumber and less competitive globally.
I hope my input aligns with your vision of America, when we have eradicated Trump and his deplorable incompetence from our government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
What has to happen within a ten-year window is, people must be retrained/retooled for the economy of tomorrow, of which you speak, but beginning with what their current training and skills are, to artificially fit them into tomorrow's labor and industrial infrastructure… it can be done, because it MUST be done under properly aligned Democratic leadership.
