I don’t see this escalating quite as quickly as they’re predicting, especially down into to blue-collar working sector.
Just because it’s possible to automate a job doesn’t mean it will be plausible, affordable, and / or preferable to do so. I think in some sense there is currently a job apocalypse happening that will continue in certain sectors where it’s easy to implement and replace human involvement, but in other areas like plumbing, mechanic work, house cleaning, etc. it will be possible to automate but probably way to expensive and impractical to do so immediately.
There is hope, it’s just not glamorous and self-actualizing in the way employment has been sold to us in the past. We will have to learn that our jobs do not define who we are, and our value is found in the context of relationships with others around us. Love always wins!
