Hollywood has tried various ways to envision our future. "Star Trek, the Next Generation" envisioned an existence where people were motivated by trying to be the best they could be. Nobody got paid. But nobody went without the necessities of life. "Demolition Man" envisioned a society where Corporations rule everything, People got paid, but some went without.
I have thought about these issues for years. I can find only two practical solutions. I personally prefer the Amish solution. They simply decided not to adopt disruptive technology. It works for them because they have deep religious convictions. But there probably isn't enough land for the entire population to do something like that. The other solution is socialism. A portion of the profits from artificial intelligence must be redistributed in such a way that everyone can have their basic needs met. Of course there is a 3rd solution. Sometimes I wonder if COVID was released intentionally. Keep in mind that it 𝒘𝒂𝒔 developed in a lab, and that the lab that designed it was not located in China.
