I hate to suggest this but one can look to a campaign targeting general "public" use of buses and related systems managerment next.
I can imagine the AI boosters of driverless vehicles cleverly gaining a much needed foothold of public support by suggesting "saving" small town/city budgets by incorporating AI tech solutions for public transport like school buses and generic city bus routes.
In the instances above a human "monitor", but not a vehicle operator, might even be "suggested" for safety but I wouldn't expect many municipalities would even follow through on that idea.
