If only we could gather up all of the AI bros into one city or country and deplete them of all their water sources to see how they like it. I am a person who lives a very fortunate life. I don’t have to worry about hurricanes destroying my home at any week or my water sources being taken from me due to supercomputers. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have empathy for those who aren’t as fortunate. It’s appalling that people are so willing to destroy the lives of others just to make a couple generated images. Even if you only generate one, you’re still a part of the problem. “Oh I’ll just generate one or two! That won’t cause any issues!” Until thousands of people have the exact same idea. I always do my best to help the environment whether it be recycling, cleaning litter around town, or volunteer work. I don’t want us to ruin our planet for future generations and cause the eventual extinction of humans to come any faster. My work may not seem like much in the grand scheme of things; but like my previous argument; it’s all about numbers. The more people who are on your side; the more impact it will have. On my side, it’s protecting the environment. On the side of the AI bros, it’s destroying it. AI can be useful, it has proven to be useful many times (autocorrect as an example)! but this is not the way to use AI. This is abusing a tool for your own selfish gain and ruining it for everyone else.
