Sorry to break into your echo chamber here, but it's a hard disagree from me. The skill level of getting an image out of Midjourney or similar image generators is absolutely comparable to that of, say, taking a photograph. If photography can be art, then so can AI prompting. Similarly, just as we accept that not all photography is art, not everything that comes out of an AI image generator is art. That doesn't mean that they can't be used as tools to create art. Even if you don't accept that there is significant skill involved, is that an important criterion for something being art or not? This is an old debate. I see lots of detailed, skilfully produced, technically impressive images which express absolutely nothing to me: inane fan art or photorealistic drawings of celebrities. Standing in a room of Rothkos can be awe-inspiring to many. The argument against artists using AI tools seems, to me, to be motivated by a feeling of indignity among people who have invested many hours into developing skills in drawing and painting and feel that others are trying to achieve something similar by taking "shortcuts", rather than accepting that this is a new and different discipline. This is pretty much exactly what happened with the advent of photography about 200 years ago.
