It isnt just that he lies about it that is the huge problem. It is the people that is dumb enough to trust it so they can sleep and not having "attention" to the road as they drive. I havent tried to drive a car with auto or full self driving yet. But even with a adoptive cruise control or radar cruise control, I *WILL* always stay attention on my driving and being aware of my surroundings. I never using my cruise control if Im inside city and town limits as I would never know when a person choose to go over the road without looking. Or a person on a bicylce choosing to just say "f it, Jesus is in my hands" to go over for red. Those type of tools and systems is to help reduce driving fatigue, it is never about replacing you as the driver to drive it. Think it like you are the driving instructor. Ready to take over if a dangerous thing is about to happen and you dont feel like the car is reacting fast enough to it. I remember I once drove a car with ACC and even through I didnt turned it on, it did warn me that the sensors it is using "malfaulting". It was very early morning so the sun did directly shinned into the sensors, so it wouldnt turn it on regardless. I also tried to drive a van which had some engine computer problem, which also meant that it disconnected the cruise control, so I wouldnt be able to turn in on. Think is one of the cameras on Tesla cars suddenly failed like that while you were sleeping behind the wheel?
