The thing is that artist haven't seen the potential in AI, I am a software engineer but I love art and I do digital illustrations for myself, everyday I am learning more about AI and trying to use it for my art studies, since I am a self learner it was so good for me to create a GPT agent capable of going with me through the end to end process of making a piece, since I do the sketching I can give my sketch to the agent and ask for feedback, then he corrects my anatomy and tells me what I can improve, I do that process on every step of my workflow, asking feedback to a machine that will give you the best feedback, no feelings, its going to tell you exactly what is good and what is bad, I can give some pieces and then ask for general advices to improve, maybe I am lacking something I don't know. Now, the other point, I don't get why artist are getting mad at the AI taking pictures from internet to train the models, when we learned how to draw, we used DBZ characters, anime, comics, etc, did we pay the artist for doing a fanart? don't we have a lot of artists selling fanarts on anime and comic events? and now we are offended because an AI is training with others art? we are so afraid of AI using our art like if we were the old art masters. AI won't replace artists ever, people who knows how to appreciate art will still support artists, people who doesnt care will use AI for other purposes like homework, business presentations, etc. We just need to embrace technology not to fear it, but of course, people calling themselves AI artists, or people trying to sell AI art saying it is not, that is a shame.
