Hot take: It’s not ChatGPT that makes devs worse, it’s how people use it. I finished uni without it and I’ve learned way more WITH it by asking “why” and “how” instead of just vibe-coding blindly. I vibe code with curiosity. It’s a tool, not a replacement for thinking. I skipped the fundamentals as well, back in uni, when ai was not a thing. AI helped me get my knowledge straight afterwards. I generally don't like it when people lazy generalize things because of association. Lack of discipline ruined a generation of many people, not just programmers. Hey, ticktock still exists... I agree with you- this guy is not at fault here. I was the same- realizing that I know nothing about the subject I think you proficient in, and in an interview... It IS hard, but hey, nobody knows if this dude actually went and learned a bunch of stuff after the video, who knows, maybe he might get even better with these life lessons.
