Kids don’t know 5+5=10? They’re writing essays in kindergarten? That’s bull shit! None of that is happening where I am. The kids know how to add. They learn how to read starting in kindergarten now, too. Cursive is taught later in 3rd grade and I’m glad it’s still taught in my area. I’ve heard other schools went away from it, and I haven’t seen any positives come out of going away from cursive. I haven’t seen any seem many positives from going away from paper and pencil even. 📝
Kids in kindergarten are being pushed more to recognize the purpose of a text, like why the text was written or if the text was meant to be persuasive (wild, I know), but they aren’t doing essays in kindergarten. That much is true. The rest of what the news anchors were saying sounded exaggerated and inaccurate. As much as I dislike the iPads, it’s not AI either. Thankfully! If this is happening in Chicago, I’m gonna steer clear of Chicago. I’m a firm paper and pencil supporter. 📄 ✏️
