Ai art is chopping up preexisting work, reformatting it, and pretending it’s something new
Art made by people uses preexisting art as inspiration, but it’s also made from loads of other inspiration. Those inspirations range anywhere from other images to personal experiences and beliefs. Also real art is for the most part, unique. It may be similar or reminiscent to other art, but it’s been translated and transformed through the artist.
The closest thing (in real art) to ai art I can think of is collage, but even that still has the element of human skill and intent that a machine can’t really replicate.
I could rant about my opposition to ai art for hours, but I don’t want to waste my time on what is really just a fad, so this is just a basic justification for why I think it doesn’t come close to human art. (Also it’s basically just art theft)
