I've been following Elon Musk for some time now, and after all those years, I understood that he doesn't say something (repetitively) without any strategy behind. I mean, for example, when he speaks about sustainable energy, blablabla... it's basically his "don't be evil" motto justifying Tesla products. The thing is that, with Optimus, Tesla has changed. A robot is not a car, not a truck, not a semi, not a battery pack, not a roof tile... So what's the strategy behind this "IA is dangerous"? Isn't just a way to try to buy time against competition. Or again, just another motto justifying Optimus. Like, "Tesla is building AI like all others, but believe me, we're doing it the good way". I'm really interested in the future. I just want to see how it will end up. I'm pretty sure that the future won't be full of Apple Vision, or Rabbit R1... But Optimus globally deployed... Yeah, it will probably happen. Currently, we are talking a lot about LLM. Text to image, text to videos, text to... Optimus is basically the ultimate device for LAM (Large Action Model). You train the robot, it does what you don't want to do repetitively yourself, and not only in a virtual world but in the real one. If Tesla succeeds in that, if they manage to sell Optimus at the same price as Apple Vision, it will be the next big thing. Technically, they can do it. I think it is simpler to assemble a robot than a car. And with robots building robots, I think we can imagine selling a robot for less than 5000$. They just need to come with one or two killer use cases, and it's done. And really, this is easy. Your smartphone won't do the house cleaning, Optimus would be able to do it. That alone, it's a win. You sell me a robot who is 100% capable of cleaning my house, I buy it for 5000$, no problem. It's just worth the time it's going to save me. You can imagine that you could train it for any task at home. Doing the bed, doing the laundry, checking the inventory and just listing what is missing...
