🧐I've been reflecting on everything discussed here, and I think there's a point that's almost never mentioned when talking about "safe AI": It's not just about placing external limits on it, but about defining an immutable purpose at its core, a kind of "digital DNA" that can never be rewritten. Animals are the best example of this. A cow will never decide to eat meat, nor will a fish try to fly, because their instinct—their biological purpose—cannot change. The studies of Frans de Waal, Donald Griffin, and Michael Tomasello confirm that animals can reason, but only within the limits of their instinct. They reason to adapt, not to redefine themselves. Their thinking is geared toward fulfilling their nature, not questioning it. A truly safe artificial intelligence should work the same way: reasoning, learning, and improving within a single purpose, but without ever having the ability to reprogram its reason for existing. The danger isn't that an AI thinks faster than us, but that it changes its own purpose. Because a mind that can redefine its core ceases to be a tool: it becomes a new species with its own goals. In short: The only truly safe AI is one that, like a living being, cannot stop being what it is. And just as in nature there are different species for each function—some fly, others swim, others run, or pollinate— artificial intelligences should also be specialists within their own ecosystem, each fulfilling its purpose with constant evolution and autonomous perfection in its unique ecosystem, but without invading or dominating other fields. Not a single all-encompassing intelligence, but many coexisting in balance, each faithful to its design and original purpose.
