as an artist by hand and by computer, as well as being a writer who focuses a lot of my effort on description of scenes, locations, actions, etc, I can wholeheartedly say that AI requires zero skill whatsoever. The only 'skills' it requires is you being literate, understanding even a basic level of any one language, and having at least 1 eye that isn't completely blind. Drawing, painting, writing, whatever- requires actual patience, emotional intelligence, an understanding of world events as they happen around you, and the sleight of hand; all of which are achievable through actual effort. AI is for cowards, quitters, inept billionaires, and just hopelessly unskilled people in general. Being an artist isn't being born with talent, it takes years of effort and experience- which sounds overwhelming to some, but that's what life is all about. Devoting yourself to a craft and sharing it with the world, cringing at your old works but also appreciating how far you've come, and where you'd be without your old shitty drawings/stories. It's okay to not be good at art, every great artist was at some point; but it's up to *you* to thug it out and see it through. Sidenote: I hate the "but AI makes art easier!" argument, it's not supposed to be easy. Art isn't meant to be mass produced, it's love, hate, tragedy and comedy, a deep connection to your mind, your experiences, and how you view the world. Yeah, it's easier to type a prompt into a computer rather than spending hours, days, weeks, months, or even years on a drawing or book; but what's the point? what is art if not effort? what is finishing something if not breaking yourself free from suffering, self-inflicted or otherwise? what are words if not the expression of the conscious mind? what is human expression if not expressed by a human? It's nothing. AI is the death of thousands of years of human expression, fueled only by greed and impatience. It's a death that's taken only a few years to destroy the love and pain of a thousand more. Fuck AI.
