So it's just like a real artist? Cause did you get the consent of artists before you learned how to draw their copy writing art as a personal art work? Or how about when you sell fan art or recoloured characters that are copyrighted? It's the remix vs remake vs inspiration argument. I can easily find 100s of artist that do all of the things that you are saying that the A.I. is doing on even the highest level. So, it's really not unethical, it really comes down to what you're losing in profit. I'm a UX designer, a game developer, a artists on every level. Do you understand how our brains work? It takes information that you have seen (your input) and then you create it (your output) but you can't create something that you have never seen before. There are categories of art, categories that you and everyone else fall into. So, everyone that's making a living creating fan content is doing the exact same thing as the A.I. generators. The only artists that are allowed to say "not my art" are the people actually making new never seen before content. A woman standing in the rain in a city at night is such a basic concept that I don't know of a single artist that hasn't done it. Seriously the complaints all come down to "it's new technology, it's scary, it's going to steal my job" it's the same reaction that everyone has who is too stuck in their ways to change. Remember when we were kids and the adults attacked and destroyed everything that was new, fun, and fantastic to us? Yeah you're those adults now, they had every single complaint and worry you're having and doing what you're doing to destroy it. You are now those adults who attack something new. Congratulations. You have became what you hated when you were a kid. I want everyone to sit down and then write out step by step the art process from learning "something new" to a high level drawing that "something new". You look for works of others on the internet, you copy their work, you do this until you make your own work but with all the same practices blended together. So you're copying copyrighted work until those parameters are apart of your subroutine then you create something you think is new but actually it's just the blended Amalgamation of copyrighted work that came before you. Why is it like this? Cause you used art from what inspired you which is copyrighted art. Then after you write every step you took to get to where you are as an artist, write down the steps needed to create A.I. art. When you do this you're going to see that you don't do anything different except that you take longer, have to spend money on supplies, and have to deal with or humans. Yes A.I. art counts as art even if they didn't do it by hand. Cause guess what? Someone had to design the generator, which is a form of art in itself. The very act of designing anything is artistic. So with all that being said, the core reason everyone is so mad is because the A.I. art generators can do what they could never do in way less time for a fraction of the cost. If you're upset that it's going to put you out of business it's probably cause you're not good enough to compete with it and you know it but instead of getting better at art your insecurities are telling you to "ban/cancel" it cause that's easier. It's sad.
