AI is overhyped, and AI image generation replacing artists is as likely as code generation replacing coders. Execs wish it would work, but it won't.
I see potential for AI as a tool, however. In art, better tools to help with some tedious pattern-based things like highly detailed texturing, or aiding in the creation of variants of textures / assets for games or vfx, or other such applications that can be applied to the creative process. All of that requires training that isn't just wholesale copyright infringement, though. Oh yeah and it requires actual talented individuals (artists, engineers, ..) to USE the tools.
Overall I don't think it's possible to put AI "back" but I think the hype is massively overstated and its place will be as a vehicle for some new tools / new classes of tools that can help improve improve the productivity of artists, engineers, and others.
