I went to a private university that nit only encouraged, but required using AI. I had a professor who used AI to write our final. The same professor wanted us to research math concepts with ChatGPT but handwrite it so it would be clear that we "didn't cheat." My creative writing class had 8 weeks of actual writing and then 7 weeks of "refining our work using AI" where "conversation" with the AI was discouraged in favor of doing it all in one prompt.
I see the logic, I guess. If "everyone is going to use it anyways" then what else is there to do but embrace it? But I was there to learn not learn AI.
Safe to say I no longer go to that university and am starting my new one in 2 weeks. It doesn't have the same major, and I am definitely there for the basic CS degree, but I am excited to actually learn. Plus, its significantly cheaper.
