• How it works: Imagine a world where a few massive tech giants (the "new lords") own the digital infrastructure—the servers, the marketplaces, the algorithms. The rest of us (individuals and even smaller companies) are like "digital serfs." We don't own our own data or the platforms we work on; we pay "rent" (in money or data) just to participate in the economy.
• The Society: Inequality could become extreme. Instead of a ladder you can climb, society becomes a walled garden where you are either inside the castle (owning the tech) or outside tilling the fields.
