I cannot prove that any human around me is sapient (c.f. Descartes), so there is no way to prove that a machine is. At best, we can hypothesize with huge certainty that a neural network isn't sapient because of its internal architecture. We know how LLMs are trained and structured, and there's absolutely no way they even think at all at this stage.
All of this assumes that we don't live in a physically-inconsistent simulation where sufficiently complex pieces of technology or biology are arbitrarily given the binary "sapient" property.
