The inherent peril in facial recognition tech isn't in its minor "benefits ", ( finding the lost, tracking wanted criminals etc. ) its in the iinevitable abuse thaqt will occur sooner rather than later . Instead of tracking criminals how long until bureaucrats - for their own ends - abuse it ? We're still - after some 20-odd months - immersed in governmentnal spying for nefarious purposes ( including upsetting a national election ) so how would this not be similarly abused ? Lets first agree upon and enact conditional laws first . When we pass that hurdle perahps its then time to consider using the technology .
