The Real investors are the Governments and now that AI is getting better and better they are more and more on board with actually investing into it. As one example, AI is already quite a game changer for the Ukrain War. And even art creation AI might be seen as interesting in that Context - where authoritarian regimes might want to use it as propaganda tool. Since it can create so much stuff that it floods out normal Artists for the majority of the people. I personally don't think artist will become obsolete or similar, anytime soon, but there is a lot happening in this field - fast. The chat and Coding AI of a Year ago looks stupid compared to the current one. Though chatbots and chat AI is probably two or three generations ahead of Image generation AI since this is an older field. For example, what i can imagine, is Art AI getting itterative Thinking steps, where they create pictues and then rework certain parts to make them look more realistic. Definitly not userfriendly at the moment, since image creation is already slow and work intensive but who knows wheher that won't improve as well. Anyway i think, hope, there will always be at least a niche for Human Art since the Soul you are talking about, where Art can inspire thought and engagement with the artist will always be missing for AI art. That said i very much am in favor of "poisoning" any type of creation to force fair use contract onto anyone wanting to use the Art (or pretty much anything).
