What I see for the future is a new political party, one that runs on a campaign of basic income or some kind of "labor dividend." Even Elon Musk the so called "oligarch" has said that UBI is inevitable and will be necessary, due to AI and automation. Andrew Yang in 2020 ran his campaign on this as well. Normally the Democratic party would support this, but they're a failing party with failing leadership. Completely corrupt, and it's only getting worse over time. The Republicans are fundamentally opposed to social spending, seeing it as "handouts" (isn't that OUR money though?) yet have no problem spending tens of billions on shiny new missiles or secret military technology. The latest bill only reinforces this perspective in increasing the age of "able-bodied" from 53 to 64 which is outrageous, and it excludes millions from receiving SNAP and Medicaid due to bureaucratic and other challenges with work. Not to mention, due to the age and work requirements, anyone who loses their job will be unable to receive benefits—the exact sort of people who should be receiving benefits are being excluded (the "most vulnerable"). So we need a new political party and new leadership. I feel that the best party would be socially conservative, as anything "woke" continues to be condemned. However, economic progressive policies like basic income are going to become increasingly popular. We're being pushed towards the edge of a cliff as AI and automation become more widespread and mainstream. When people start being pushed off that cliff it will be a lot of people at once ejected from the workforce—with no Medicaid or SNAP I might add.
