Mr Hinton seems like a genuinely nice man, and he's a British/Canadian treasure. However, his points about having his money stored in 3 Canadian banks to protect against AI cyber attacks is wishful thinking. With the worse-case scenario, if an attack is successful, one would assume all 5 major Canadian banks would fail at once. It'd be possible for AI to automatically sell stocks and cash out anything liquid. Bonds with terms would be more difficult, and physical property requiring notarization would be the most challenging. However, a big 5 bank failure just with currency and stocks would be enough chaos. At that point, doubtful the government could honour the bond term, and the resulting chaos would make any hard asset ownership up for grabs for those who have the most power.
