Youtube Videos like this are truly awful. Let's establish what happened here: 1. The creator establishes themselves as an authority: "After speaking out against AI art I have seen every possible Pro-AI argument" 2. Throughout the short the creator uses imagery from a movie where the person writing is crazy, then uses music commonly used to denote something as funny. 3. The creator makes an assumption about the target's situation, and tells them something that is not in any way useful or helpful at all. Let's cut to the chase now, the person in this short likely has Aphantasia. Aphantasia is a mental condition that causes anything from a more difficult time mentally visualizing something to being totally incapable of mentally visualizing things. Whenever this person says things like "They were born with a gift", or "Born with talent" what they're talking about is the fundamental ability to mentally visualize literally anything, something that people in generally but especially artists take for granted. Prior to the rise of AI technology there was a huge community of people with Aphantasia who supported artists across all platforms, and who frequently expressed their deep desire to be artists despite their inability to do the most basic thing required to be an artist. Whenever AI technology made the rise it seemed like miracle technology to this community and finally allowed them to essentially have an external visual imagination, and what happened? They were demonized by the art community because the art community categorized everyone who used the tech as the same thing, initially this ignored all of the reasons why they use the tech. And pretty much every artists regarded people who use the tech as being lazy or unwilling to put the work in to be an artist the right way. Can you imagine how insanely infuriating it is to have supported a community your entire life because you have this thing that's just a part of what you are only to be told you're evil the second you step out of line, at fault for everything bad happening to that community you supported, and that if you just tried harder you'd be able to do the thing you biologically cannot do. A lot of artists around this time reported loss of revenue and attributed it to AI but a large portion of this(but not all of it) was whenever this community was alienated. From their perspective they've wanted this all their lives, they finally got it and suddenly everyone they thought were their friends turned against them. This community commonly uses terms like "Blue Bloods" because they see artists as being nothing but elitists 'I'm allowed to have an imagination but all you're allowed to do is pay me to have one.' and "Tyrants" because from their perspective they were cast out for nothing, or even if they can see the negatives it can be bewildering to have a community which previously was all about expression and acceptance suddenly and dramatically contradict itself from their perspective. Now what happens whenever they actually communicate with the art community? They're shown as being crazy and set to what is effectively a modern day laugh track, and given advice that doesn't help. This video and its entire comment section is effectively "Oh you have depression... Have you tried Not being so depressing?" And it's not just this video, The art community as a whole seems to prefer pointing and laughing at people rather than doing the base level of research into anything now days, and the amount of toxicity in it has gone through the roof. I have genuinely seen someone make the argument that any image that uses ai art at any stage regardless of the artist's knowledge should be considered AI-influenced and the artist should be shunned for supporting AI art even if not intentionally because intent isn't a factor. Like the creator categorizes this commentor as being Pro-AI entirely because they aren't anti-AI, think about that for a second they didn't actually say anything that was Pro-AI all they expressed was how much they hate the art community and yeah, if they belong to a group that has been cast aside, talked down to and treated terribly all because they have a disability then they 100% are right for hating the art community and instead of pointing and laughing at them the art community should focus more on fixing the issues in our own community than being so toxic that we are proving them right for hating us. And to be blunt creators like LavenderTowne are literally just profitting off of the AI hate mob by this point. The entirety of this video is literally just treating someone like they're crazy or a living joke and then ending it with "People like this make me feel so sad because they've been told that they can't do this thing even though they can!" So 90% of the video is pointing fingers and laughing, and 10% is Positive reinforcement that only comes after the pointing and laughing... aka the only people who will stick around and see it are the people who are pointing and laughing with you and that gives you plausible deniability that you're not just bullying someone.
