As a Senior "Full Stack" data developer with 10 years experience and handfuls of ML projects and implementations, I do not agree with the evaluations. I haven't been asked questions like this in interviews nor have I needed the information given to succeed. Why are we even mentioning C++ and not data cleaning/cross validation/how to leverage current LLMs? 60-70% of the work is framing the data. The python work itself is far more about pandas and knowing which libraries to use to leverage the AI models you need than how to manipulate specific python objects. Leet code proficiency might get you in at a place like Meta, but for 95% of the other good roles they care so much more about how you approach and communicate a project than trying to catch you on syntax concerns and acronyms. ChatGPT is valid if you understand what you're trying to do with the code and have enough knowledge to review it. If you aren't able to leverage all tools available to you to deliver faster, you are falling behind. Navigating chatgpt hiccups is just part of the new skill set. It is up to you to learn what it's giving you, but it was the same with Google. Not saying this guy definitely doesn't have it lol. Sounds like he had a broad program with a handful of IT sectors, had a class or two in ML, and just wants the hottest job he could think of from his program. It's hard to be really ready for any role in those types of programs since school just conditions most to pass classes, not work, unfortunately. Doesn't mean the credential wasn't worthwhile. He should just try and be a low level analyst while he learns. I just don't agree with the questions or especially making him feel like his degree wasn't worthwhile.
