I actually find it interesting that AI is basically putting itself out of a job long term. LLMs wouldn't exist at all if it didn't steal human created data and used it unauthorised and uncredited as its basis for training. Now writers and artists are being even more devalued than they were before. I can't help but wonder however why Sam Altman et. al., haven't thought about what would happen if there were not enough human created art or writing to train their models anymore. AI will eat itself as it will only be left with its own hallucinations and "garbage-in" input. Why don't these companies actually focus on automating the jobs that no human wants to do instead of the jobs that humans are uniquely in a position to do (such as art related work)? Imagine if dangerous, dirty and low paid wage work were to all be taken over by automation and AI. But for some reason AI can't do those jobs, or at least not properly or reliably. And instead it will eat itself by incentivising real human artists and intellectuals to not make their work available on the internet and be left with producing "garbage-out" output. And who's going to pay for and use that output? Absolutely no one. Everyone I know is done with AI slop.  And I haven't even addressed the zero sustainability issues of AI. Our planet doesn't have enough energy and water to sustain it at the level that reflect billionaires' fever dreams. So unless billionaires are hoping to wipe out all human life, even they are pretty much effed. Honestly, the only thing that will help you is seeking solidarity with your fellow human and demanding and creating a new form of governance and economy that's human-based instead of capital-based. That's the only thing that will save us. But as long as you let fascism happen, solidarity won't even be a thought.
