Some parts that I'm particular about... I've been following Wendover for a long long time, but there are plenty of videos that show they don't really dig into the history or have spoken to friends in the right domains. First, AI warfare had already been happening for years now. At least 12 years, if people were to follow regional military conferences and exhibition shows. Second, the reason that ML powered autonomous drones were not more popular was just because there hadn't been any conventional wars that needed it. Just think about it so far: All wars in the past 15 years were pretty much just one side steamrolling the other, or at least the fighting forces involved were just not so well-supported and coherently motivated as Ukraine. Third, and last, major militaries also held back from making cheap autonomous vehicles and deployments by tacit unspoken agreement. Since Russia broke the rules of the previous era, it's all fair game. Pretty much every nation was happy to empty out old ammo and weapons reserves for Ukraine, showing that military solutions from the previous twenty years actually worked REALLY well in a conventional large war. Then, once those reserves ran out, it gave nations the justification and desperation needed to obtain current + next-gen solutions. AI/ML warfare is current gen, not next-gen. Let's not make this a 23 minute ad for Anduril.
