The average human psyche is not ready for the level of existential crisis that AI will soon present. The ensuing social and financial chaos will be the impetus for governments to step in to gain absolute control "for our protection". The legislation already exists for the Feds to take over the means of production/distribution under emergency powers. In short, AI will likely send humanity into a forced, widespread experiment in Communism. History and basic human nature imply the failure of this experiment ends in violent revolution and unprecedented death tolls. But, hey, until then the stock market will be bangin'.
