I think it would be good to start a place. To get people accustomed to the idea, and proof of concept (even though there's plenty of that already). I'd propose a bracketed automation tax to give a yearly UBI output to people at the same time as the taxes get done once a year. The automation tax would start like this and adjusted eventually: 0-30% automation 0.5% tax. 31-50% automation becomes 1% tax. 51-70% automation becomes 1.5% tax. 71-90% automation becomes 2% tax. And everything at 91% or over automation becomes 2.5% tax. In current affairs this amount wouldn't fund anyone's life, however it would certainly be a nice addition to those that doesn't have much. And it would be directly scalable to the cause of job scarcity. Adjustments to this system could be done after a few decades once we see details about the system more clearly.
