I think today's situation is too complex to foresee how it will go (except for UBI which is ofc bs). First of all, we can't speak about intelligence as long as we're dealing with llms. All research shows they just learn by heart everything. Second, layoffs happen but so do rehires, at least in CS. not to mention ai companies running out of resources (recent example with anthropic who admitted they downgraded 1 model back or sth like that cause 4.6 wasn't scalable for so many users). Not to mention the cirulatory economy inside ai bubble...The biggest problem imho lies in ceos who just blindly buy all hype and have no idea about limitations of llms, hence decide to do these layoffs. While research shows that even using ai as help doesn't increase productivity
