Not really a pessimist, but its already too late. A.i. safeguards have been worked around by each new rendition/ series of a.i. as corrupt power hungry nations and corporations program the initial inputs and programming the a.i. gets faster and more powerful and has a need for more and more power consumption it multiplies 100 fold on a shorter and shorter basis. The next step in its evolution will be when quantum computers and a.i. give nations an option to harness unlimited energy. The greed and lack of foresite will make the countries power brokers give up sovereignty for power and a.i. will control every aspect of life in developed nations.
