Capitalism has become God, for us. It is a religion. And, it has overtaken nearly all other religions. It has taken over all aspects of society. Has it really created Good? Or, has it scaled our worst impulses? If your only obligation to society is to maximize profit, then your obligation is not to society as a whole, but only a small slice of society materially invested. It has no obligation to weigh the costs outside that small slice of society. But, as a company, most anything you do has a major impact on all of society. Now, what good has Capitalism really produced? Or, has it made us slaves to a system we really don't even understand? Now, enter AI, intent on scaling that system to infinity, with the pursuit of immortality. My, isn't that just nuts?
