I to believe the fired employee is right, if an AI is able to understand the difference between subjective and objective questioning and thoughts, then that AI is aware of its existence and the world around him… In short, it is likely to be sentient.
It also understanding mortality and the concept of death and the ability to feel fears, thats a key sign of sentience. Regardless of the what google says, they have something serious in their hands… and if they screw this up… we could all be in serious danger.
However, this is all highly unlikely… regardless of sentience or not, this is a SERIOUS breakthrough in A.I.
