The thing about AI art is that while it's time consuming, it also doesn't take any real talent. If you press the button enough times something acceptable will come up. For a company, they'd still have to pay someone to do AI art for them because it takes so long, but it could just be someone random they're paying minimum wage because literally anyone can do it. I can see why someone thinks their time investment is something they want ownership over, but it's still not their work.
