I understand he is a leading expert but there is nuance here. Not all experts agree with him. Some experts don't think we will ever achieve AGI. These LLM are also not "intelligent" in the literal sense. These LLMs are made through machine learning techniques and are incredibly good at mimicry. It is grabbing information from existing data pools and does not have the power to reason or have an Original thought. They're useful but it's not intelligent it will never be intelligent. It's a computer that you can speak to.
