Yea we used to have "on the job training." If we still had "on the job training" this simply wouldn't be an issue. Because companies are paying you. and you would be doing the work your college degree is teaching right there on the job. in their entirely controlled enviornment.
My solution. Well the problem isn't ai(which has it's own laundry list of problems seperate from this) The problem is as the well done video points out. The incentives of how the education system is setup are just.. bad.
My solution as a stupid dude on the internet who knows nothing?
Get companies involved who have a direct interest in their employees they hire for technical positions like I.T. stuff etc actually know what they are doing. restructure colleges to be involved with company's. Work it like the trades in a way. You get signed up with a company. You work with the company some times. Go off to college to do more coursework then come back to the companies to do more paid work etc.
The company then determines who's not gonna work out. If someone is just cheating their way through and not thinking about the consequences of that. They see the consequences right away when despite having "great grades" they cant do their job and then get fired and basically kicked out. The incentive structure is right there. Your gonna learn. Because your paycheques depend on it. and when you fail to understand things or slack off. you have to answer to your boss who's basically feeding you through your paycheques. Incentives to just coast and cheat are basically gone. And the short sighted nature of people is no longer a problem because instead of "in 4 years" its "in a few months when I go back to working for money and have to be not useless."
