The conversation around AI seems to hit on topics like is it ethical, will it improve in the future to a point where it can replicate the human *spark* that makes truly great and original art, does relying on AI kneecap your own ability as an artist (or as mentioned in the video re; writing essays to develop critical thinking capability). All of these topics are complicated and can be debated.
As an artist with no skin in the game - i.e. I do not make an income from my art - these topics miss the fundamental point of why I make art; because I want to MAKE THE ART. I don't want to outsource it to someone else. When creating I could copy someone else's work to start my process, I could use AI in the concept stage like you talk about, but then I'm not making the art someone else is. Yes it would be easier but I don't want creating to be easy I want it to be fulfilling!
