in my opinion, the only solution to this problem is a universal basic income, paid for by the very corporations who cut jobs for automation. they should be taxed heavily for every job they eliminate and that money should go back to the american people. they shouldnt be taxed so much that innovation isnt worth it, but the american people need to be taken care of. AI and robotics has the potential to bring about a literal utopia if its regulated properly. there are other ways to be productive and contribute to society than just "work". theres art, family, human connection, things that we work to be able to do with our free time. in a world where there are no more jobs, socialism and populism are the ONLY ways forward.
