It would change nothing, literally nothing. Politics always used such tools even before the invention of semiconductors. It is people that were always stupid and will always be just stupid no matter what. It doesn't matter if it's coming from AI deepfake or straight gossips and propaganda. History is filled with irrational acts, violent public events and conflicts happened between political, racial or religious oppositions that ignited by fake news. Not a bit different than witch-hunts of the middle-ages, just accuse other and keep sharing your propaganda, AI deepfakes are just a shiny new toy to play but definetely not needed and won't change anything.
